Everything operators need to know about HPHT mud cooling and our services.
HPHT (high-pressure, high-temperature) mud cooling removes heat from drilling fluid at the surface before it is pumped back downhole. In HPHT and geothermal wells, bottomhole temperatures can exceed 350°F (177°C), which degrades mud properties, shortens MWD/LWD electronics life, and causes premature elastomer failure. Surface mud cooling with a GeoCooler or FX Unit reduces bottomhole fluid temperature by up to 83°F (46°C), protecting tools and reducing non-productive time (NPT).
The GeoCooler is an onshore evaporative heat exchanger designed for land rigs, with a modular skid-mounted design and low electrical footprint suited to the high ambient humidity of Southeast Asia. The FX Unit is a seawater shell-and-tube heat exchanger engineered for offshore jackups, semi-submersibles, and drillships, with a compact footprint and marine-grade corrosion-resistant alloy construction.
PT TNG is the exclusive Southeast Asia & Oceania partner for Drill Cool Systems, serving operators in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, and Papua New Guinea from our facility in Cikarang, West Java.
Click 'Request a Thermal Assessment' anywhere on the site and submit your well data — including well survey, geothermal gradient, lithology, casing plan, BHA information, mud report, and rheology data. Our engineering team will return a complimentary thermal-hydraulic model quantifying the temperature risks and the impact of our cooling solutions.
Yes. Our API 6A, API 16A, and ISO 9001 certified machine shop in Cikarang specializes in geothermal wellhead safety valve repair, recertification, hardfacing with Inconel and Stellite cladding, NDT, and high-pressure hydrostatic testing up to 15,000 PSI — extending equipment life and reducing replacement costs.
Don't let temperature be the weak link in your drilling program. Our experts can run a complimentary thermal-hydraulic model for your well to identify risks and quantify the impact of our solutions.
